How to Carry Out an Investigation
There is no real correct set way to carry out an investigaion into a haunted location. I have been doing investigaions and clearings for over 20 years, this is the method we at PRC use, and the ones most of the other well known investigators use too.

1) Have everyone met at a set location, and time leave enough time for a briefing, predecide if your team will split into groups and which piece of equipment each member will carry. Each group will need a group leader.
2) As you enter the site, the team leader should ask for a blessing for the group for the duration of the hunt. Most if not all experienced groups will not enter a location until a blessing has been done.. it protects the team against evil spirits.
3) Walk around the site and get a feel for the area, now is the time to decide on a meeting place for regrouping, make a note of the start time. temp if indoors and weather conditions. This time can also be used to set up equipment, trigger objects and of course double check equipment is working. and testing walkie talkies, something NO team should be without.
4) Now the investigation starts, go out there, get your EMF readings. Take pictures on both 35mm and digital cameras, the most important part now it to record every little change
5) feelings & emotions, temp changes, Emf readings , sounds etc " . make a note of the area where you had these feelings and readings. after the hunt you can compare notes. and look for anything that shows a similarity.
6) If you have split into groups, halfway through the investigation, make sure you swop places and regroup if needed into other groups, this ensures that no one is left in an inactive area, and that later when you compare you get the emotions from different people (some will always pick up more than others)
7) At the end of the investigation, regroup. and the group leader should then ask that the spirits remain at the location and do not attempt to follow the team. I would not be happy to close an investigation until this is done.
8) Arrange a time to met and regroup so you can compare notes and discuss the investigation this should be as soon as possible while its still fresh in your mind.
A few Tips from PRC
Everything should be logged, no matter how small or trivial it may seem. Every member should have a notepad and pen at all times.
When you do your first, get to know the area walkthough. Make a note of any, wires, Vents heaters, fridges PC's or anything else that could show a reading or cause dust orbs, Take a few photos now at this stage, and make sure you not all temp and EMF readings now and at a few stages during the investigation.
Do not discuss the haunt details at any time while you are doing the intial walkthrough
Only the team leader should know the full detials of the haunt if possible.
Never jump to conclusions or share evidence compare notes during an investigation, this can influence others to pick up your emotions rather than that of the ghosts.
Keep an open mind!
No smoking, alcohol or drugs at or on investigation NEVER!!!!
Do not wear perfume or aftershave
Spirits often use smells to get our attention.
Make sure you let someone know where you will be so they will know in case of emergency
Make sure you have permission to be at the location.
Use you head.
Never go ghost hunting alone. Hunt with at least one companion.
Verify location, accessibility, safety, ahead of time, during daytime hours to identify paths, and hazards and anything else you should or may find useful.
Take suitable clothing & wear sturdy shoes, Carry a working flashlight, even during daytime ghost Hunt, you may need it indoors.
Remember, you have more to fear from the living than from the dead. If their are any people hanging around the location take care, empty properties can be used by drinkers and drug takers.
Always carry a mobile phone in case of accidents etc, but keep it switched off
Behave politely as you would in someone else's home, this is the spirits home, do not mess and joke around. respect the location at all times
